Abstract Asymmetric capacitors composed of carbon electrodes with different pore size distributions (PSD) were constructed in order to study the fundamental relationship between the PSD of positive and negative carbon electrodes and the performance of electric double layer capacitors. The performance of asymmetric capacitors in a non-aqueous electrolyte solution (TEMA·BF4/PC) was found to be …
Abstract The dependence of electric double layer capacitance on the pore structure of commercially available activated carbons in both nonaqueous and aqueous electrolytes was studied. Capacitance in the nonaqueous electrolyte (propylene carbonate solution of 1 mol/L triethyl-methyl-ammonium tetrafluoroborate) was linearly related to that in the aqueous electrolyte (1 mol/L H2SO4 solution). The…
Abstract. Carbon-coated Magneli phases TinO2n-1 were prepared by a simple heat treatment of the powder mixture of rutile-type TiO2 with poly(vinyl alcohol) PVA at 1100 oC in inert atmosphere. The lower TiO2/PVA ratio in the mixture resulted in TinO2n-1 with the lower n-value. Carbon-coated TinO2n1 phases thus prepared showed photocatalytic activity under visible light. The TinO2n-1 phas…
