A Practical Guide to using Second Life in Higher Education
This book provides pedagogically informed guidance and researchbased suggestions for practice. It is not necessarily a text to read ‘in one go’ as it is divided into three parts. The idea is that those completely new to using Second Life for teaching begin with Part 1, but those wanting to develop their teaching begin with Part 2. For the experienced and the boundary crossers, Parts 2 or 3 are the place to start. Inevitably in a book such as this there will be numerous new terms; therefore I have explained many throughout the text, but a glossary is also provided. It is, however, not a book designed to provide all the answers, but to be something that provides guidance and suggestions, as well as tackling many of the questions and queries raised by those both enthusiastic and critical of using such spaces in higher education.
