Abstract. Phosphate removal is important in the control of eutrophication of water bodies and adsorption is one of the promising approaches for this purpose. A Fe–Mn binary oxide adsorbent with a Fe/Mn molar ratio of 6:1 for phosphate removal was synthesized by a simultaneous oxidation and coprecipitation process. Laboratory experiments were carried out to investigate adsorption kinetics …
Abstract. Hydrotalcite-supported Pd/Sn catalysts with different Mg/Al atomic ratios (2, 3, 4, and 5) for nitrate adsorption and hydrogenation reduction were successfully synthesized by a coprecipitation method. The results showed that different atomic ratios of Mg/Al resulted in different interlayer spacings and zetapotentials of the catalysts, which thus influenced its adsorption capacity. …
Abstract. Effect of pH on the aluminum chloride hydrolysis at low concentration was investigated in detail by electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectrometry. In particular, formation and decomposition processes of polymeric aluminum species were discussed. When coagulant AlCl3 was diluted to normal coagulant dose (1.5×10−4 mol/L), hydrolysis occurred immediately. Monomeric and dimeric a…
Abstract. CuOx-doped a-FeOOH (CuOx–FeOOH) nanorods were synthesized by controlling the reaction between ferrous sulfate, cupric sulfate and sodium borohydride at ambient atmosphere. The resulting materials were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. CuOx–FeOOH was mainly …
Abstract. The mineralization of an azo dye Acid Red 14 (AR14) by the photoelectro-Fenton (PEF) process was studied in an undivided electrochemical reactor with a RuO2/Ti anode and an activated carbon fiber (ACF) cathode able to electrochemically generate H2O2. Anodic oxidation and UV irradiation of AR14 were also examined as comparative experiments. Results indicate that the electro-Fenton …
